Chakra presentations!

Chakra presentations!

I do this exercise where I ask the students to think of someone who is in their life who is dominant in one of their chakras. And then for each person to imagine they are your yoga student who has come to you for advice. How do you help them find balance?
When we are doing our practice you want the energy to rise to the 6th chakra and take you inward. But in your daily life the 24 hours of each day need to be divided equally. How much of your day do you spend on survival and earning a living? On seeking pleasure? On asserting your power? On being kind and compassionate to others and being of service? On expressing your truth and letting creativity flow through you? And I’m going inward to experience the true nature of your Self? How are you out of balance? What would help you find more balance?

Really fun Shiva Power class at Aroma Yoga in Zhuhai!

Really fun Shiva Power class at Aroma Yoga in Zhuhai!

What a great group of students. A very hot and sweaty class. We went deep into the fire. My dharma talk at the beginning of class was all about tapas. There’s no yoga if it’s not challenging. What is challenging is different for each of us. Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. Focus on your practice. Work hard and get out of your comfort zone. You have to work out of your comfort zone. It’s supposed to be challenging. Yoga is not about being comfortable. It is about sitting in the discomfort, staying calm, staying present, looking at the things that come up for you, and practicing letting them go. Are you fighting your way through your class? Or are you breathing into it? Are you fighting your way through your life? Or are you breathing into it? Keep it light. Keep it fun. But don’t turn the heat down. Go towards the fire. Don’t run away from it. Thank you, everyone for going into the fire with me!!! Such a wonderful experience sharing the teachings with you. Thank you to Yan for inviting to teach at your studio. And thank you to Stella for organizing and translating. Namaste.

Dr. Richard Miller!

Dr. Richard Miller!

I’ve been practicing Yoga Nidra for over 12 years and teaching it for the past 10 yrs. I’ve been trained in 2 traditions and I found Richard’s knowledge incredible. He helped me connect the dots in a lot of areas and helped me understand what is happening neurologically in different parts of the practice. A few really profound moments where I was able to unlock and make sense of this ancient practice and increase my understanding. When knowledge turns to wisdom! His practice was very powerful as well and it really resonated with me. I’m definitely going to be doing a training with him down the road. Thank you @irestrichardmiller for a really wonderful weekend! Thank you @larrypayneyoga for hosting and all that you do to provide so many opportunities for us to continue to grow and learn. The never ending journey of learning! Feeling very grateful.

Last Shiva Power Class w/ Kula!

Last Shiva Power Class w/ Kula!

My last Shiva Power class at Kula Yoga, in New Smyrna, was yesterday morning. It was a little bittersweet. We had so much fun practicing together all week. I will miss practicing with this Kula Yoga crew. I’m leaving for Orlando today, sad to go, but also feeling very inspired by the community here in Port Orange and New Smyrna. This community reflects so well on Jodie and Jackie Anderson. You’ve created such a wonderful space here and attracted such a wonderful group of teachers and students. What a great group of yogis! I found everyone very open and receptive on this trip and it was so easy to teach your students all week. Thank you again for inviting me to come and share. Grateful for you both. Blessed that we have crossed paths and excited for the continued journey and future collaborations. Kula Yoga — I’ll see you in the fall. I’m back leading my 300hr Shiva Yoga Teacher Training which will be spread over September, October, and November. I look forward to seeing you then! I’m sure we will have some open classes and open up some of the workshops during the training too. It will be fun to practice with you all again. Namaste.

When the Student Is Ready the Teacher Appears

When the Student Is Ready the Teacher Appears

One of my teachers used to say the world is like an echo. You get back what you put out. If your message is, "I hate you!" The world sends you back the message, "I hate you!" If you're message is, "I love you!" then the world sends you back the message, "I love you!"

We are all vibrating at different frequencies. It's why sometimes we disconnect with people. You're not vibrating on the same frequency as them. They're not really hearing you. You're not really hearing them. You're not really 'getting' each other.

One of the things that I've noticed since teaching yoga is that the clearer I get with the signal that I'm sending out, the clearer I get with what I'm teaching, with what I'm offering as a teacher,...it's like that signal gets heard loud and clear by the people who want what I am offering. These students pick up on it and they find their way into my class. We gravitate towards a teacher that we're ready for. When the student is ready the teacher appears.
